Caring for the moss painting
Even though the moss image contains true moss or lichen, is not watered. The plant is specially treated and mummified. The painting should be placed in a room with a temperature of 5-30 degrees and a humidity of 40-60% (humidity in this range is very important, this is the standard humidity in an apartment or house, or it can be provided by a humidifier, which you will appreciate). It does not thrive in direct sunlight (it is not UV resistant) or in close proximity to radiators, fireplaces or air conditioners. Otherwise very low maintenance. You can hang it even in a completely dark corner.
Painting you can easily get rid of dust with a hairdryer set to a low temperature (cold drying). You can then wipe the frame with a damp cloth.
If handled correctly, the mech paintings retain their beauty for about 10 years.
Used moss / lichen
We value nature, so we only process mosses and lichens purchased from suppliers who grow them for this purpose in their own forests (mostly in the Nordic countries). We do not process any of the protected species and do not "rob" nature.
In most paintings and decorations, it is Reindeer Hair - a shrubby lichen that grows very slowly. It is naturally light in colour and is therefore in most cases dyed with natural dyes for a more distinctive appearance.
The moss or lichen is loaded with a natural preservative and "dried". The moisture contained in the plant is replaced by a degradable preservative that helps the plant maintain its natural appearance. The painting or decoration may have a slight specific smell for a few days, which will wear off.
The plant, the preservative and the dyes used are purely natural and completely harmless to health.
Neither lichen nor moss will grow further. It is not possible to plant them for multiplication.
